Carina Forster
Neuroscientist
I am passionate about understanding the complexities of the brain, especially how neural circuits lead to behavior and cognition. My research focuses on neural data analysis and computational modeling of brain function.
Data Scientist
As a data scientist, I enjoy applying machine learning and statistical methods to solve real-world problems. I work with large datasets, building predictive models and discovering meaningful patterns in data.
Workshops & Teaching
I have extensive experience in teaching workshops on:
- Python programming
- EEG analysis using MNE-Python
I enjoy breaking down complex topics and helping others develop skills in scientific programming and data analysis, especially in the context of neuroscience. I am based in Berlin, Germany and offer 1 or 2-day workshops within Europe. From 2025 on I will be based in Brisbane, Australia.
GitHub Projects
Check out my GitHub profile and repositories related to teaching:
Google Summer of Code 2024
In 2024, I was accepted for Google Summer of Code where I worked on a project with the MNE-Python community. Over two months, I started implementing a new cluster statistics API for MNE-Python. This project improved statistical analysis tools for EEG/MEG data, making it easier for researchers to conduct advanced cluster-based tests on neuroimaging data.
Climber
I love to challenge myself with climbing. The combination of physical and mental endurance in climbing keeps me sane and motivated after a long workday.
Yogini
Beyond neuroscience and data science, I am a dedicated yoga practitioner. I completed a Yoga Teacher Training in 2019 to deepen my practice, focusing on mindfulness, flexibility, and strength. Yoga helps me find balance and focus in my personal and professional life.
